Harriton football squad blanks VFMA in opener

Harriton’s football squad shut out Valley Forge Military Academy, 24-0, in its season opener Aug. 24.

The Rams’ offensive line, particularly Ryan Dieudonne, Mustafa Elkhashab and Mike Swartz, played well as Harriton rushed for 213 yards on 35 carries, led by Jack Rosenfeld, who scored three touchdowns. Teddy Molineaux also ripped off several long runs for the Rams.

The Harriton defense, led by Harry Thomas, Jack Baldwin, and Sam Segal,  only allowed three first downs in the entire game – not surrendering the first one until late in the third quarter.

Newcomer Evan Tracy, who is also a captain of the Harriton soccer team, was 3-for-3 on extra points and nailed a 30 yard field goal.

The undefeated Rams (1-0) will host Penncrest Friday at 7 p.m.

After the victory, Harriton head coach Justin Mellor said, “We’re looking forward to a great week of preparation for the Penncrest game.”
