Hockey: Melito’s goal not enough for O’Hara

Phil Melito scored on the power play in the final two minutes off feeds from Ronan Plummer and Ryan Seibert, but it wasn’t enough for Cardinal O’Hara in a 4-1 loss to St. Joseph’s Prep in PCL Blue play Thursday.

Troy Percival made 39 saves in goal for O’Hara.

Marc Colavita led Prep with a goal and two assists. Ronan Egan and Nicholas Urbani added a goal and an assist each, and Conor Ryan chipped in two assists.

Strath Haven 8, Ridley 7 >> Ryan Spanier scored the game-winning goal 1:19 into overtime off assists from Mike Irey and Liam Carney to lead Strath Haven in a Central League matchup late Wednesday.

Spanier finished with seven points (3Gs, 4As), Carney added five for the Panthers and goalie Lukas Bernaus made 29 saves in the victory.

The Raiders were paced by Michael Giampapa, who posted a hat trick in the second period alone and six points overall.
