Girls Swimming: Abbruzzo sets another record as Notre Dame outpaces Merion Mercy

Academy of Notre Dame’s Mia Abruzzo continued to pile up the individual accolades Monday.

Abruzzo broke her third school record of the season as the Irish defeated Merion Mercy in a nonleague girls swimming meet, 99-68.

Leading off the 200 free relay, Abruzzo set the school record in the 50 free with a time of 24.20 seconds. It was one of four victories on the day for Abruzzo, who led off the 400 relay, swam anchor in the 200 medley relay, and touched the wall first in the 50 free (24.37).

Kayleigh Olszewski (200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 400 free relay) also won four races for the Irish, who claimed every event in the meet. Madison Gaffney (200 medley relay, 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke) and Sarah Hahn (200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 100 breaststroke) were both double winners, while Lily Moul was victorious in the 200 freestyle and relay.
