Sumner paces Episcopal past Notre Dame

Alex Sumner, the 2017 Daily Times female Swimmer of the Year, got her senior season off to a good start.
Sumner led off the winning 200 medley relay team and anchored the 400 freestyle relay to victory to pace Episcopal Academy to a 110-66 Inter-Ac League girls swimming victory over Notre Dame.

All-Delco Hadley DeBruyn also was on a pair of winning relay teams. She was on the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Melanie Ott also was a double winner for the Churchwomen. She won the 200 individual medley and was part of the 200 free relay.

Mia Abruzzo and Kayleigh Olszewski won two events each for the Irish. Abruzzo was first in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke. Olszewski captured the 200 and 500 freestyle.

In nonleague action:

Sun Valley 88, Chichester 61 >> Keeley Durkin and Jenna Johnson set the pace for the Vanguards. Each won four events, two individuals and two relays.

Durkin took the 100 fly (1:06.32), 200 free (2:06.32) and was part of the 200 free (1:49.19) and 400 free (4:37.20) teams. Johnson was also part of that 200 free victory, while adding wins in the 200 medley relay (2:05.00), 100 free (1:00.36) and 100 back (1:05.44).

Boys Swimming

Andrew Cerami and Gran Michaels won four events each to lead Sun Valley to an 89-49 nonleague victory over Chichester.

Cerami was first in the 100 back and 100 free and was on the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays. Michaels captured the 50 free and 100 butterfly and was on the same winning relay teams as Cerami. David Kearney, with a score of 198.65, claimed the top prize in the diving competition.
