Conestoga wins Fall Main Line Scholastic Sailing League Series

The Main Line Scholastic Sailing Association (MLSSA) held its Fall Season Awards banquet recently at Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia in Essington. Led by skippers Andrew Gurski and Garrett Roach and crew members Molly Dougherty, Katie Martin, Emily Dougherty and Justin Roach, Conestoga beat Malvern Prep by the slimmest of margins to take the Fall Season Honors.
Malvern Prep, led by team members Louis Margay, Brendan Lord, Greg Gaasche, Brian Szipszky, Andrew Morris, Aidan Gallary, Nikolas Figurski and Colin Corrigan, placed second.
In addition to the team award, individual awards were presented to:
Luc Santilli, Friends Select – Sportsmanship Award.
Jonah Srulevich, Harriton High School – first place, Open Series Crew.
Maxwell Penders, Westown Friends – first place, Open Series Skipper.
Louis Margay, Malvern Prep – Bullet Award.
The MLSSA Spring Season starts in April with races on Sundays at noon at the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia in Essington. The public is invoted to come out and watch the races. For more information on starting a MLSSA team, email Art Bell at bellgarrett@comcast.net.
