Mercury Boys Basketball Roundup: Strechay leads Perk Valley past Kennett

Tyler Strechay scored a game-high 33 points to lead the Perkiomen Valley boys basketball team to a 62-58 win over the Kennett during the Phoenixville Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.

Strechay knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished 7-for-8 from the foul line while Dante Graves followed with 12 for the Vikings. Perk Valley used a 16-4 advantage in the fourth quarter to close it out.

Upper Perkiomen 56, New Hope-Solebury 54 >> The Tribe held off New Hope-Solebury on the way to a win during the Upper Moreland Tip-Off Tournament.

Ryan Kendra led the way with a game-high 24 points while Liam Boyle followed with 12. Upper Perk held a 27-26 lead at the half, then extending it with a 16-12 advantage after three quarters. Nick Garritano paced NHS with 17 points while Kevin Dougherty added 15 and Topher Taylor had 14.

Garden Spot 57, Owen J. Roberts 48 >> Hot-shooting Jordan Shewbridge and a fourth-quarter rally proved to be too much as the Wildcats fell to the Spartans at the Twin Valley Tournament.

Shewbridge finished with a game-high 25 points, including five 3-pointers, as Garden Spot used a 20-9 advantage in the fourth quarter to close it out. Shyheed May paced OJR with 13 points while Dawson Stuart followed with 12.

Solanco 63, Pottstown 31 >> The Trojans suffered a loss against Solanco during the Twin Valley Tournament.
