Strath Haven rolls a seven to beat Garnet Valley

Evan Spanier picked a fine time for his first career goal.

Spanier broke a tie 2:26 into the third period off a Mike Irey feed, the first of five unanswered third-period goals in a 7-2 Central boys hockey win for Strath Haven over Garnet Valley Friday night.

Ryan Spanier scored twice, lighting the lamp within 14 seconds of Liam Carney in the third. Irey scored and dished two helpers, and Blayden Reid scored twice in the third period.

Goals by Joseph Shull and Matthew Wood put Garnet Valley up 2-0 3:03 into the second, but Haven rallied to score the final seven goals.

Also in the Central Division:

Conestoga 10, Ridley 2 >> Michael Giampapa scored twice, but six second-period goals from the Pioneers put the contest out of reach as eight Conestoga players scored.

Scott MacMaillan led the way with two goals and two assists. Michael Cameron potted a pair of goals, while Frank Konopasek paired a goal with two helpers for the Pioneers.

In the PCL Blue:

Cardinal O’Hara 9, Roman Catholic 2 >> John Paul Ahearn recorded a hat trick, and Zac Deemer collected two goals and four assists as the Lions rolled. Tim Truax, Michael Roney, Shane Truax and Jeremy Garvey also lit the lamp for O’Hara.

Archbishop Carroll 3, Bishop Shanahan 3 >> Jason Zambella scored his second goal of the game with 57 seconds to play, and the Patriots killed off an overtime penalty to escape with a tie.

Jake Swayze also scored for Carroll, but the Patriots couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead 2:37 into the second period. A night after 60 saves in a loss to Cardinal O’Hara, Jacob George turned aside 24 shots.

Girls Hockey

Lindsey Coffey scored twice, the first off a feed from Sydney Hamilton, and Tessa Landry made 50 saves between the posts, but Radnor found itself on the wrong side of a 5-2 loss to Unionville. Kaelen Speck recorded a hat trick for Unionville.
