Downingtown East grad Kyle Lauletta to play in Senior Bowl, East-West Shrine Game

University of Richmond quarterback and Downingtown East graduate Kyle Lauletta has accepted an invitation to play in the 93rd East-West Shrine college football all-star game Thursday.

The game for college seniors will be heard in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Jan. 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. It will be carried by the NFL Network. A strong performance at the East-West Shrine Game can greatly impact a player’s chances of a career in the NFL. More than 100 players from last year’s game signed with professional teams this spring, and more than 70 made final NFL rosters.

“The most important element of East-West Shrine Game has always been supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children,” said executive director Harold Richardson. “But during game week, it also affords our players an unmatched opportunity to showcase their talents and get their first taste of a potential career in the NFL.”

Lauletta’s 3,737 passing yards is currently fourth-best in the Football Championship Subdivision. He has thrown for 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while being named the Colonial Athletic Association offensive player of the year.

He will also play in the Senior Bowl a week later, becoming the first Spider to play in that game since 2009.
