The Spring-Ford boys lacrosse team capped its District 1 Class 3A playoff run by claiming fifth place Thursday night in a 10-7 victory over Haverford.
The Rams, which clinched the program’s first berth to the PIAA Championships on Tuesday with a 9-3 playback victory over Downingtown East, got four goals and two assists from senior midfielder Danny Cassidy while Ryan Rosenblum and Tate Pijanowski each netted two goals.
The No. 4 seeded Spring-Ford (19-3) got off to a fine start while building a 4-1 halftime lead. Haverford, the No. 10 seed, found its offense in the third quarter and narrowed it to a 7-5 deficit through three quarters but the Rams kept their distance down the stretch.
Other scorers for Spring-Ford were Peyton Gensler and Jarrod Marenger, who had a goal and an assist each. Haverford was led by the three goals of Jack Daly.
Spring-Ford, as District 1’s fifth-place team, will face District 12 champion La Salle (20-1) in the first round of the PIAA 3A Championships on Tuesday, May 30.
