PJP opens up district playoffs with rout of Chichester

So much for the problem of first-round nerves.

Pope John Paul II showed to be quite poised as the Golden Panthers opened play in the district’s Class AA playoffs Wednesday by rolling over Chichester, 18-3.

Monica Rapchinski scored nine times to lead PJP (13-5), the sixth seed in District 1’s Class AA bracket. It jumped to a 10-0 lead over the 11th seed, which got all its goals from Maura Murray.

Grace Cobaugh added a hat trick for PJP with Charlotte Williamson providing six-save goaltending.

Lawrenceville 14, Hill School 9 >> Hat tricks by Bree Gorman and Hannah Delahaye were the high spots for the Blues in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League loss to the Larries.

Erin Kelly chipped in with two goals, and Tatum Eccleston with one, to round out the Hill’s scoring. Leah Forrest (two), Gorman, Eccleston and Giavanna Tabarrini added assists while Annie Carroll contributed seven-save goaltending.
