Tommy Toal raced home on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh inning, and Zak Summy pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the seventh to help the Haverford School hold on for a 4-3 victory over Springside Chestnut Hill in its final Inter-Ac League game of the season.
Toal’s run gave the Fords a 4-0 lead. Summy took over after starter Grady Nance gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Nich Holtz and Logan Keller had one hit and one RBI each for the Fords (16-11).
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 9, Calvary Christian 4 >> Penn Schmidt went 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Brett Tanis, Nate Carroll, Daniel Nichols and Cody Moorhatch also had multiple hits for the Knights.
In nonleague action:
Archbishop Carroll 5, Garnet Valley 3 >> Drew Butera’s double in the bottom of the sixth inning snapped a 3-3 tie. Pinch-hitter Jake Harvey followed with a sacrifice fly to give closer Ian Myers a two-run cushion.
Myers fanned two to earn the save. Christian Argentieri pitched a scoreless sixth to get the win. Starter Jack Houser fanned 10 in five innings, while leadoff man Tyler Kehoe walked twice, scored two runs and stole three bases.
Mason Miller had a double and triple for the Jaguars.
Strath Haven 4, Bonner and Prendergast 0 >> A four-run outburst in the fifth inning was all Henry Dawes needed to get the win.
Dawes went the distance and allowed just three hits and one walk. Evan Atsaves, Anthony Viggiano, Will Carey and Brady Mutz knocked in one run each in the fifth inning for the Panthers.
Boyertown 8, Marple Newtown 1 >> Corey Woodcock went 1-for-2 and knocked in the only run for the Tigers (11-7). Luke Cantwell and Alden Mathes had the only other hits for MN.
