Mackenzie Lewis collected the 100th hit of her career, and Alayna Lloyd and Claudia Davis provided the big blows in a five-run, sixth-inning outburst that propelled Sun Valley to a 9-3 Ches-Mont League victory over Unionville.
Sun Valley’s win, coupled with Great Valley’s 3-2 victory over Kennett, created a tie for first place in the Ches-Mont League American Division between Sun Valley and Kennett. The Vanguards can win the division title outright with a win over the Blue Devils Monday.
Lloyd (2-for-3, two runs scored) broke the game open with a 2-run single in the fifth inning. Davis (2-for-4, two runs scored) followed with a three-run homer to put the game out of reach. Julia Skwirut added one hit and two RBIs.
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 16, Christian Academy 3 >> The Knights took control early with nine runs in the top of the first inning. Elie Eppright led the way with three RBIs, while Kira Berol, Kendall Hardey and Kaelyn Cooper knocked in two runs each.
In nonleague action:
Penncrest 2, Interboro 0 >> Julia Eckles, Emma Stauffer and Victoria Reed provided pitcher Maya Hartman with all the offense she would need to get the win.
Eckles led off the top of the sixth inning with a bunt single. Stauffer followed with an RBI single and Reed added an RBI triple to seal the victory. Reed and Sami Martin both went 2-for-3, while Hartman fanned five and allowed two hits.
