It’s a clean sweep of Del Val League tennis for Joey Hagel.
Chichester’s top dog recently won the league’s singles tournament, and Wednesday, he doubled his hardware count by teaming up with Clifton Paasewe to defeat Academy Park’s Kevin Tran and Abdulai Gassama, 6-2, 6-2, to win the Del Val doubles tournament.
Hagel and Paasewe didn’t drop a set throughout the entire tournament, and the win meant that the Eagles won the league’s singles, doubles and team title. Both teams advance to the District 1 doubles tournament Friday at the Healthplex.
Penn Wood’s John Kpanka and Victor Alao bounced back from a first-set loss to win the third-place match over Glen Mills’ Clifton Ford and Destin Dortch, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.
In nonleague action:
Haverford 6, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1 >> Connor Rose (6-3, 6-4) and Andrew Field (6-0, 6-1) secured a pair of straight-set victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to help the Fords roll over the Colonials.
Sammy Ortiz and Scott Kaplan (6-0, 6-1) made quick work of their opponents at No. 1 doubles.
