Doubles teams save the day for Sun Valley

Things didn’t look good for Sun Valley heading into doubles play against Academy Park, but the Vanguards had other ideas.

Evan Roland and Shawn Burton teamed up for a win at No. 1, followed by another win from Hunter Hoffman and Ryan Costigan as Sun Valley edged AP, 3-2, in a nonleague match.

Kevin Tran and Abdulai Gassama triumphed in their singles matches for the Knights.

In the Central League:

Radnor 6, Garnet Valley 1 >> Max Safanov, Alex Weiss and Jonathan Davis won in straight sets at singles to guide the Raiders (13-3).

Upper Darby 7, Ridley 0 >> Brandon Caban, Zoe Lor and Ani Tupia handled their singles matchups with ease by posting identical 6-0, 6-1 wins to pace the Royals.

In the Inter-Ac:

Haverford School 7, Springside Chestnut Hill 0 >> Connor Lees, Julius Golz and Emilio Fink grabbed singles wins for the Fords.

In the Del Val:

Chichester 4, Penn Wood 1 >> Joe Hagel won at No. 1 singles and the tandem of Tom Baney and Ricky Van Newkirk put together an impressive win at No. 1 doubles as the Eagles soared. John Kpankpa claimed the Patriots’ lone victory.
