Smith, Cox lead Radnor to bounce-back win over Penncrest

It took five goals each from Cate Cox and Hope Smith for Radnor to come from behind and beat Penncrest, 13-12, Thursday afternoon in Central League girls lacrosse action.

The Raiders had squandered a four-goal lead to Springfield in a 14-11 setback Wednesday night but rebounded to overturn a two-goal halftime deficit against the Lions. Cox added two assists, and Smith contributed one helper. Julianne Puckette tallied two goals for Radnor.

Logan O’Donnell and Grace Harding led Penncrest with three goals and one assist each.

Also in the Central League:

Springfield 15, Lower Merion 6 >> Alyssa Long’s first two career varsity goals highlighted a 15-goal first half outburst as the Cougars made quick work of the aces. Bridget Whitaker scored four times to go with an assist for Springfield (10-1, 7-1). Dana Carlos and Olivia Little (two assists) also chipped in two goals each.

Conestoga 13, Garnet Valley 11 >> Riley Delaney registered a hat trick, Madi O’Brien supplied two goals and two assists and Lauren Kinnee stopped 10 shots, but the Jags couldn’t quite catch up.

Madi McKee and Kamryn McNeal scored twice each for GV, McNeal adding an assist.

Strath Haven 12, Haverford 9 >> Sophie Haase, Maddy Ruffini and Nicole McNeely each recorded hat tricks to pace the Panthers.

In the Inter-Ac League:

Agnes Irwin 17, Germantown Academy 8 >> Lila Barker buried six goals, and Sydney Wolfington paired four goals with two assists for the Owls.

Episcopal Academy 19, Academy of Notre Dame 12 >> Katie Crager had four goals and two assists, and Taylor Lucey added three and three to pace the Churchwomen.  Makenzie Irvine powered the Irish with five markers, and Kelly Coyle added a hat trick.

In the Del Val League:

Academy Park 12, Penn Wood 1 >> Angeliqua Ortiz and Riley Street scored four goals apiece, and Terae Mason made it stand up with 13 saves. Zyah Newsom and Shayna Flory netted two goals each for the Knights.

Interboro 11, Chichester 6 >> Morgan Reed notched four goals, and Paige Dorwart added a hat trick as the Bucs lead wire-to-wire. Jenna Schreiber chipped in two goals. Haley Fritz led Chichester with a hat trick, and Cameron Topper also deposited two goals.

In the Catholic League:

Lansdale Catholic 15, Bonner & Prendergast 14 >> Paige Brady did her bit with five goals and four assists, but the Pandas came up just short.

Lindsey Fagan registered a hat trick, and Keeley Weis paired two goals with a helper for Bonner & Prendie.

In the Bicentennial League:

New Hope-Solebury 18, Delco Christian 6 >> Braedyn Thompson registered four goals, and Alison Levis added a pair of tallies, but it wasn’t enough for the Knights.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Downingtown West 16, Sun Valley 1 >> Makenzie McGinnis found the back of the net for the Vanguards.
