Haverford School blanks St. Joe’s Prep

John Walsh, Grayson Potter and Julius Golz each triumphed in straight sets to lead The Haverford School to a 5-0 rout of St. Joseph’s Prep.

In doubles action, Cole Wolf and Sunny Yu earned a 6-1, 6-3 decision in the No. 1 slot. In the second match, Thomas Ward and Aly Ba notched a 6-3, 6-2 decision.

In the Central League:

Haverford 8, Ridley 0 >> Sophomore Connor Rose, the No. 1 player for Haverford, recorded his first victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Alex Arcidiacono and Andrew Field cruised to 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 triumphs, respectively.

In doubles play, the pairings of Scott Kaplan and Sammy Ortiz and Andrew Borbi and Abe Park both won love-love.

Conestoga 6, Upper Darby 1 >> Brandon Caban’s 6-3, 6-3 victory at first singles gave the Royals reason to celebrate against the Pioneers.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Coatesville 4, Sun Valley 2 >> Ishy Ahmad won a grueling match against Coatesville’s John Catranis at No. 3 singles. Ahmd outlasted his opponent with a pair of tiebreakers, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4).

Also for the Vanguards, the No. 3 tandem of Preet Patel and Ryan Hayes won in straight sets.
