Delco Girls Lacrosse Roundup: Hengey, Reed spark Interboro past Academy Park

Trailing by one at the half to Academy Park Thursday night, Interboro needed a spark. The Bucs got one from the attacking duo of Madison Hengey and Morgan Reed. Hengey scored five times and added an assist, while Reed contributed four goals to the cause in an  11-9 victory.

The win came on the back of a 7-4 second-half spurt from Interboro after the Knights led 5-4 at the break. Zyah Newsome fronted that offense for Academy Park, scoring three goals in the loss.

In the Central League:

Garnet Valley 17, Marple Newtown 2 >> Ten different Jags scored in the club’s 17-2 win over the Tigers. Cam Faith led that contingent with three goals and three assists. Caroline Shaefer also added a hat trick, while Regan Nealon was the most generous of the bunch. She led Garnet with four helpers to go with two goals.

Penncrest 17, Upper Darby 3 >> Kenna Kaut, with two goals and two assists, led a host of contributors for the Lions in the rout. Eleven players recorded at least one point. Rachel Feldmayer scored twice for the Royals with Maggie Blemings netting one as well. Santi Laureano made five saves for Upper Darby.

Springfield 17, Ridley 7 >> The Cougars ran out to a 5-1 lead and continued to pile on the offense to improve to 8-1 on the season, 5-1 in the Central. Olivia Little’s six goals paced the attack, while Julianne Clemens made 10 saves. Hannah Crowley scored twice for the Green Raiders, who got goals from six different players.

Conestoga 17, Haverford 12 >> An eight-point night from Laura Winters provided a highlight, but it wasn’t enough for the Fords to run past the Pioneers. She was one of three Haverford players — Lydia Hetznecker and Nora Janzer were the other two — with three or more goals. Janzer also collected five ground balls.

In the Catholic League:

St. Hubert’s 13, Bonner-Prendergast 12 >> The Pandas dropped a heart-breaker in overtime in Catholic League play. Prendie kept pace with a balanced attack and solid goalkeeping from Catriona Corrigan. Corrigan made 15 saves, while four Pandas scored three goals each, Paige Brady, Keeley Weis, Carly Broscious and Riley. Brady added four assists in the loss.

In the Ches-Mont:

Unionville 16, Sun Valley 2 >> The Vanguards played the Indians to a draw in the second half with each team finding the back of the net once. Hannah Maggio and Liz Johnson scored for Sun Valley with Johnson assisting on Maggio’s marker. Alexis Colasante made nine saves in defeat.
