Notre Dame frosh Jackson fans 17 in one-hit shutout

Grace Jackson had Agnes Irwin’s lineup swinging and missing all game Tuesday.

The Academy of Notre Dame pitcher tossed a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts as the Irish blanked Inter-Ac League foe Agnes Irwin, 5-0, in softball.

The freshman Jackson has an incredible 31 strikeouts over the last two games.

Sophia Marlino was the other star of the game for Notre Dame. Marlino homered twice to knock in all five runs. Her grand slam broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth.

Michele Billotta had two singles and Caroline Adams singled, walked and scored a run.

In nonleague action:

Interboro 4, Upper Darby 0 >> Bridget Bailey was in complete control of the Upper Darby lineup.

The Bucs’ ace pitched a four-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts and no walks.

All-Delco catcher Amber Seamen collected two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Bucs (4-1). Lily Bonner singled, doubled and knocked in a run.

Jess Liberio had a two-base knock for the host Royals.

In the Catholic League:

Cardinal O’Hara 6, Archbishop Ryan 2 >> Tuesday’s win tasted extra sweet for the Lions (4-1).

O’Hara avenged its loss to Ryan in last year’s Catholic League final as Jenna Smith picked up the win with eight strikeouts. Alexia Galli went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Maggie Loomis had two hits and a ribbie.

Bonner & Prendergast 20, West Catholic 0 >> The Pandas (4-2,  2-1 ) batted around (and then some) in the first inning when they plated 17 runs.

Caroline Manfre led the hit parade with a two-run triple and Kerry Keenan knocked home a pair with a double. Sam Frescoln chipped in with two RBIs. Megan Sullivan pitched a three-inning, one-hit shutout.

In the Bicentennial League:

New Hope-Solebury 20, Delco Christian 9 >> Erin Mulholland doubled, homered and drove in two runs for the Knights (3-3, 2-3), who couldn’t overcome nine fielding miscues. Ellie Eppright had two RBIs for DC.
