Kirwin, North Penn win SOL Continental opener

North penn 5, William Tennent 1 >> The Knights won their SOL Continental opener in a fast-moving game Monday afternoon and picked up the win over Panthers ace Nick Cataldi. North Penn’s Tyler Siddal, Nate O’Donnell and Zack Miles, the top three hitters in the order, all went 2-for-4 and combined to score four of the Knights’ five runs. Miles scored twice and drove in a run, while John Lester, Trace Colter and Dan Drop also chipped in an RBI. Cataldi had the sole RBI for the Panthers. Danny Kirwin picked up a complete-game win for North Penn with eight strikeouts.

Quakertown 2, Hatboro-Horsham 0 >> The Hatters were held to just two hits in Panthers pitcher Matt Bukavich’s complete game effort, Monday. Colin Kennedy had one of the two hits and absorbed the loss despite going the distance, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits. The Hatters committed two errors.
Springfield 4, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2 >> Nick Pave spun a complete-game gem as the Spartans took care of PW on Monday. Pave struck out nine en route to the win. Brad Krenicky and John Pecharo provided the RBI for the Colonials in the loss.
La Salle 4,  Bonner-Prendergast 1 >> The Explorers shook off a weekend loss to Malvern Prep and picked up a PCL win to start the week on Monday.
Pennsbury 8, Souderton 4 >> The Indians fell behind in the second inning and couldn’t muster enough runs to make a comeback against the Falcons on Monday. Blaise Scalfani had a two-run single and Luke Barnum also posted an RBI for Souderton in the setback.
