Methacton gets first win of season; Pottsgrove downs Norristown behind Cherubini’s three hits

Upper Perkiomen 14, Owen J. Roberts 3 >> An eight-run fifth inning was enough to do in the Wildcats as the Indians pounded 12 hits in the five-inning victory.

Morgan Lindsay went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs while Alyssa Sullivan (two hits), Emily Moll and Olivia Young (three hits) all contributed two RBIs in the crossover victory.

Taylor Lindsay, who went 2-for-4 from the plate, got it done in the circle, throwing all five innings while allowing two earned on seven hits. She struck out four.

Owen J. Roberts’ Darby Stuart and Camryn Glenn each finished with two hits in the loss. 

Methacton 5, Pope John Paul II 4 >> Methacton got its first win of the season, downing the visiting Golden Panthers.

Erica Triantafilou, Abby Penjuke and Sam Weil-Kaspar all had two RBIs for the Warriors, which used a three-run third inning to give themselves some cushion against a Golden Panther squad that came in losers of two straight.

Methacton’s pitching duo of Alli Christian and Ashley Narke, limited PJP to eight hits in the contest. Christian and Narke both struck out two; Christian in her three innings of work and Narke through four.

Amanda Butera finished with three runs scored in the loss. Grace Harvey and Nicole Bowen (two RBIs) each had two hits. Alex Szpindor tossed two innings of relief, striking out one.

Perkiomen Valley 5, Phoenixville 1 >> The Vikings pounded out nine hits and rode the arm of Abby Wild to stay undefeated.

Alex Vullings led the way for PV’s offense, finishing with a 3-for-4 effort with two runs scored. Gillian Barrie and Ashley Bangert each had two hits for PV, which used a three-run fifth to add some run support for Wild. Wild went the distance, striking out seven while allowing five hits in getting the win.

All five of Phoenixville’s hits came from five different players.

Pottsgrove 7, Norristown 1 >> Rachel Cherubini, Jenna Yerger and Savannah Wilson all had multi-hit games as the Falcons downed the Eagles to win their second straight.

Cherubini finished with three hits in three plate appearances and three runs scored while Yerger and Wilson each finished with two hits and a run scored. Cori Dickinson (1-for-3, one run, RBI) doubled in the win.

Kira Livezey got the win in the circle, striking out six while allowing three hits and one earned in seven innings of work.

Steph Orman had two hits for the Eagles in the loss.
