Haseltine, Cooks-Green punch TCA’s ticket to states

As they’ve been all season, Lindsey Haseltine and Danay Cooks-Green were an impressive one-two punch for The Christian Academy Saturday, with a states berth on the line.

Haseltine scored 15 points, and Cooks-Green added 13 as the Crusaders routed Sankofa Freedom, 43-25, in the third-place game of the District 1/12 Class A sub-regional to punch a ticket to states.

Ten of Haseltine’s 15 points came in the first half, with TCA (21-6) leading 19-10 at the break. Cooks-Green turned it on late with 10 of her 13 points after the break as TCA pulled away via a 10-3 edge in the fourth quarter.

Grace Gormley added six points for TCA, which withstood a 5-for-17 performance from the foul line.
