Pennsbury boys, girls bowling post solid seasons on the lanes

FALLS TWP. – The Pennsbury boys and girls bowling teams certainly enjoyed solid seasons on the lanes this year. With a 43-5 record in league action (63-5, overall), the Falcon boys repeated as Suburban One National League champs.

And the Falcon girls team, after going 40-8 in the SOL (52-8, overall), tied Harry S Truman for a share of the league title they also won last year.

The Pennsbury boys were led by senior Davante Davis, who took first place in the SOL bowling championships held on Valentine’s Day at Bristol Pike Lanes. The Falcon girls were led by senior Kelli Frain, who is taking her 211 average with her to Long Island University Brooklyn.

While Davis recently took the top prize at SOLs after rolling 726 in a 3-game series, it was classmate Kimmy Bonar who took first for the girls trophy with a 708 series. Frain was second with a 637 series. On the boys side, Nik Barrett took third at SOLs with a 661 series and senior Dylan Farrell finished fourth with a 655 series.

Pennsbury head coach Dave Nicol might have had an idea things were going to turn out good for his boys team when they finished first in the Ice Breaker Classic in December and took fifth in the Snowball Classic in January. More recently, the Falcon boys qualified for the Regional Tournament as team and all five starters including seniors Davis, Farrell, Nick Susko and John Feher along with sophomore Jake Feher qualified for the singles tournament.

All five Pennsbury starters for the boys team averaged over 200 with Davis leading the way after averaging a little over 223 on the season. Jake Feher came through with a 222 average in SOL matchups and averaged 217 overall on the season.
