You won’t find a much more evenly matched field hockey game than what took place at Red Hill on Tuesday night.
Locked dead-even at 2-goals apiece through double overtime, Upper Perkiomen advanced past Radnor 5-3 via penalty strokes in the District 1-AA playback round.
With the win, No. 5 Upper Perk will take on No. 3 West Chester Henderson (a 3-0 winner over Bishop Shanahan) for the fifth and final spot in the PIAA-AA playoffs set to start next week.
AiYi Young and Hope Flack each accounted for a goal during regulation while Liz Fox and Kaylie Siwy provided assists. Flack evened it up at 2-2 with 5:58 left in regulation.
Kathryn Lehman, Fox and Abriana Gatto each tallied goals during penalty strokes, while goalkeeper Liz Pierson posted seven saves (three during penalty strokes).
Grayson Berger and Page Lowry each scored goals and registered assists for Radnor during regulation. Emma Majercak tallied her team’s lone score during strokes. Kim Mullarkey finished with 11 saves on 16 shots faced.
