North Penn girls water polo wins state title

The North Penn girls water polo team dominated the competition and won another state title on Saturday at Wilson.
The Knights faced off against the No. 2 seed Wilson in the finals, jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead and coasted to the 8-5 triumph.
Claudia Thamm had a hat trick, while Maddy Koerper added two goqals. Kailyn Evans, Caroline Gillespie and Erin Huebner also scored for North Penn.
Rosalinda Rivera had 15 saves in net.
North Penn’s journey begain Friday in the quarterfinals with a dominating 15-4 victory over Reading where Maeve Wyadan scored four goals. Koerper added a hat trick, while Thamm and Evans each had two. Aly McLaughlin, Caroline Gillespie, Heather Hartmann and Melissa Mcguire also tallied goals. Rivera made six saves in net.
On Saturday, North Penn held off a determined Villa Marie 9-5 as Koerper scored four goals this time. Wydan added the hat trick, while Evans tallied two more. Rivera made 11 saves in net.
For the tournament, Koerper led the way with nine goals, while Wydan had seven. Thamm and Evans each finished with five goals.
