Eagle lifts Radnor’s Kim into 6th-place tie

Radnor’s Gabby Kim fired an eagle on her final hole to finish the first round of the PIAA girls Class 3A golf championships in a tie for sixth place Monday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center in York.

Conestoga’s Samantha Yao, the District 1 and East Region champion, fired an even-par 72 and is tied for first place with Mia Kness of Peters Township.

Kim had four pars before the eagle on the par 5 No. 18. That enabled her to shoot a 5-over par and tie Samantha Fritzinger of Emmaus for sixth place heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Kim’s younger sister, June, closed out her first round with four straight pars for a 13-over par 83. She is in a three-way tie for 12th with Molly Holbert of Mechanicsburg and Christina Lewis from North Allegheny.
