Garnet Valley sweep clinches Central League bye

Garnet Valley will play for the Central League title next Wednesday. Which teams will play for the right to face the Jaguars in the final may come to a tie-breaker.

The Jaguars made sure it was a three-team playoff with a 3-0 victory over Radnor Thursday to complete an undefeated run through the league. Conestoga, Penncrest and Strath Haven are tied for second going into the final day of the league season Friday.

The Pioneers host Lower Merion, the Lions entertain Harriton and the Panthers are at Springfield. If the teams remain even, it will go to a tiebreaker to determine which two play next Monday night for the right to face GV (16-2, 11-0).

Erin Patterson (12 kills) and Sydney Portale (10 kills) were strong at the net in a 26-24, 25-8, 25-21 Jags victory over the Raiders. Lizzie Herestofa had 15 digs and five aces.

In the Catholic League:

Bonner & Prendergast 3, Hallahan 1 >> Caroline Goggin had 15 digs and six aces as the Pandas (8-6, 6-4) bounced back from a loss in the first set to win 20-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-14.

Maggie McPeak set the offense in motion with 24 assists and also had 11 digs. Molly Ryan (12 kills) and Maura Hagan (six kills) were strong at the net.

Cardinal O’Hara 3, Lansdale Catholic 0 >> Meghan MacWilliams dished out 38 assists and recorded eight digs as the Lions (16-2, 9-1) topped the Crusaders, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21. Kiki Daly paced the attack with 15 kills. She also had three digs, while Charlee Borcky had 10 kills and seven digs.

In nonleague action:

Chichester 3, Harry S. Truman 0 >> Julia Miles (eight kills, eight assists, seven aces) and Caitly Jones (10 assists) paced a balanced attack that led the Eagles over Tigers, 25-22, 25-21, 25-11.

Emily Allen (three kills, three assists) and Samanda Falcone (three digs, two kills) also came through for Chi.
