Main Line girls’ volleyball wrap-up: Lower Merion looks like aces on Senior Night

The Lower Merion girls’ volleyball squad defeated Radnor, 3-1, Monday on Senior Night, posting scores of 18-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-23. The Aces were led by Mary Pat Quinn who posted a double-double with 32 assists and 29 digs. Marie Hamilton also provided 16 kills while Artie Felder pounded 10 away. Maya Toib was also stellar on defense with 20 digs.

The Aces defeated host Ridley, 3-0, Oct. 7, posting scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-21. The Aces were led by juniors Marie Hamilton who had 11 kills and two blocks. Adi Segal contributed 21 digs and four aces while Mary Pat Quinn had 19 digs of her own and dished out 25 assists.

In other Main Line high school girls’ volleyball action:

Academy of Notre Dame (10-3, 5-0) defeated Springside Chestnut Hill, 3-0, Oct. 8, posting scores of 25-13, 25-8, 25-18. Jen Dudzinski and Olivia Andrisani combined for three kills and three blocks, Marina Ruiz had seven assists and two kills and Alessandra Ciampi had four digs.

Baldwin School lost to Science Leadership Academy, 3-2, Oct. 7, posting scores of 25-21, 26-28, 22-25, 25-17, 6-15. The leaders for the Polar Bears were Haley Tavares (six aces, eight kills, four blocks), Caroline Kiser (six kills, 12 assists), Gabby Alston (five kills, three blocks), Gabbi Pettineo (three aces, seven kills) and Taylor Trapp (five aces, four digs).

One day earlier, the Polar Bears lost to Agnes Irwin, 3-0, posting scores of 15-25, 24-26, 25-27. Baldwin leaders included  Caroline Kiser (13 kills, three digs), Haley Tavares (seven kills, four blocks), Gabby Alston (four kills, two blocks), Evie Wasson (eight digs), Laura Pellicano (five assists, six digs), Cartier Thomas (14 assists) and Anika Iyer (two aces).

 

Radnor lost to Lower Merion, 3-1, Monday, posting scores of 25-18, 25-27, 18-25, 23-25. The Red Raiders (8-9, 6-4) were led by junior Becca Goldberg (15 kills, three blocks), senior Brianna Ellis (10 assists, eight kills, five digs, two service aces), junior Carleigh Goldstein (10 assists, nine kills, eight digs, three service aces), sophomore Sammy Scannapieco (13 digs), sophomore Erica Dicarlo (nine kills) and junior Yana Flores (eight kills).

The Red Raiders defeated Marple Newtown, 3-0, Oct. 7, posting scores of 25-24, 25-20, 25-22. For the Red Raiders (8-8, 6-3), sophomore Sammy Scannapieco led the defense with 19 digs and a service ace. Junior Yana Flores added another 15 digs and sophomore Erica DiCarlo had eight digs. Other standout players included senior Brianna Ellis (eight kills, eight digs, five assists, four aces, one block), junior Becca Goldberg (seven kills, three blocks), sophomore Carleigh Goldstein (five assists, six kills, four digs, one block, one service ace), senior Paige Kidd (four kills), sophomore Izzy Criscuolo (four kills) and sophomore Grayce Henderson (three kills).
