Ley comes through to help O’Hara banish rival

Makalia Ley was in the right place at the right time Monday, and she knew what to do when the ball fell to her in the box.

Ley scored with 90 seconds left as Cardinal O’Hara scored a 2-1 Catholic League win over Bonner & Prendergast.
Ley set up Zyianna Wilmer’s opener in the first half to give the Lions a lead. After Kelsey Czibik knotted the score for the Pandas, Ley broke the deadlock late.

Kerry Patterson made five saves in net for O’Hara, while Kayla McLaughlin turned aside eight shots for Bonner & Prendie.

Also in the Catholic League:

Archbishop Carroll 9, Neumann-Goretti 0 >> Led by two Bella Sorrentino goals, all eight of the Patriots’ seniors scored to mark Senior Day in style. Finding the score sheet were: Maddie Ferraioli, Abbie Ferraioli, Emily Wittig, Kelly Morris, Rose Kokol, Molly McFadden and Morgan Rake.

In the Ches-Mont League:

Sun Valley 4, Kennett 0 >> Sami Bowen scored three times, and Claire Howley added an insurance marker as the Vanguards coasted. Amy Parker kept the clean sheet with five saves for Sun Valley (8-6, 4-6).

In the Central League:

Haverford 1, Springfield 0 >> Amelia Durfee’s goal made the difference between the teams.

Radnor 1, Marple Newtown 0 >> Maura Holst scored an unassisted tally, beating Marple’s Halle Robinson (nine saves) to help the Raiders earn the win.
