DLN-AREA GIRLS SOCCER: Detweiler’s two goals allow Unionville to upend Downingtown East

Sophia Detweiler scored her second goal of the game with at minutes left in the second half to give Unionville a 2-1 victory over Downingtown East in a Ches-Mont League girls soccer contest Wednesday.
Detweiler scored off a corner kick from Salem Carlow as Unionville improved to 5-2-1 in the Ches-Mont, and 6-4-2 overall.
Detweiler tallied in the first half off an Alexa Conroy assist. Erin Garvey and Sophie Schenk were defensive standouts.
Emma Steigerwald scored for the Cougars (8-2).

Kennett 2, Octorara 0 >> Scarlet Morgan and Hailey Weinert scored first-half goals to help the Blue Demons (1-9, 2-10) collect their first Ches-Mont victory. Weinert’s goal was on a penalty kick.
