Mercury-Area Girls Soccer Roundup: Spring-Ford too much for Downingtown East

Spring-Ford 5, Downingtown East 1 >> Alayna Gairo had a goal and an assist while Mack Mitchell scored twice and the Rams beat the Cougars in non-conference play.

Juliana Alessandroni added a goal and an assist while Amanda Byrd and Alex Hyduke combined for three saves in the win. Kelly Franz scored once while KK O’Donnell posted an assist.

Owen J. Roberts 2, Garnet Valley 1 >> Mahogany Willis and Mia Baumgartner each scored a goal during the Wildcats’ non-conference win over the Jaguars.

Baumgartner’s score served as the decider, coming with 17 minutes left in the second half.

Upper Perkiomen 1, Southern Lehigh 1 >> Jessie Fisher scored during the fifth minute as the Tribe played to a tie with the Spartans in non-conference action.

Fisher’s score came off a feed from Taylor Kearney before Southern Lehigh tied it up with a goal from Mady Singley during the 63rd minute. Hannah Landis and Rachel Morelli combined for 12 saves in goal for Upper Perk.

Mount Saint Joseph 5, Pottsgrove 0 >> Angela Gervasi scored twice to lift the Lions over the Falcons during a non-conference match.

Pottsgrove’s offense was held without a shot on goal while goalkeeper Erin Carroll finished with 10 saves on the other side of the field. Madison Hornig, Paige Comtois and Ashley Pyne each notched a goal for MSJ in the win.

Gov. Mifflin 3, Boyertown 1 >> Shana Kabinoff scored the game’s first goal for the Bears, but the Mustangs rattled off three scores in a span of seven minutes to take the non-league victory.

Ashley Petitjean and Cassidy Landis combined for five saves in the Boyertown goal.
