Round one in the much-anticipated Inter-Ac League field hockey showdown between two-time defending champion Episcopal Academy and Notre Dame went to the Irish.
Lauren Curran collected one goal and one assist as Notre Dame outlasted the Churchwomen, 3-1, Friday afternoon.
Curran scored off an assist from Ava Leonhardt in the second half to give the Irish (7-2 overall, 3-0 league) a 2-0 lead, and then fed Mary Kate Neff to seal the victory. Mia Leonhardt tallied the first goal for ND, while goalie Katie Liebeskind only had to make three saves thanks to a solid defensive effort.
Jenna Lotsis had the only goal for EA off an assist from Corinne Zannoli.

Cardinal O’Hara 1, Merion Mercy 0 >> Liz Tosto made several defensive saves and goalie Jen Ahearn stopped 18 shots to keep the Lions undefeated.
Sara Hayes rebounded her miss nine minutes into the game for all the offense O’Hara (10-0) would need.
Bonner & Prendergast 2, Haverford 0 >> A spectacular goal by Kerri Quinn as the first half came to a close helped the Pandas (6-2) bounce back from a tough loss to Cardinal O’Hara.
On the play of the match, Allison Martin swept the ball into the circle with time winding down in the first half. The ball bounced into the air off the stick of a Haverford defender. Quinn rushed in an knocked the ball out of mid-air into the cage with one second left to give the Pandas a 1-0 lead.
Molly McNulty converted a pass from Riley Dolan to give MBAP a two-goal cushion and goalie Julie Carden made five saves to post the shutout. Mary Grace DePlato recorded nine saves for the Fords.
Strath Haven 1, Phoenixville 0 >> Katie Capalbo put home a pass from Olivia Fender with 9:15 to play in the game. Elizabeth Labows and Meghan Lashley played strong defense in front of goalie Gillian Gunn (six saves) for the Panthers (9-4).
