Main Line girls’ volleyball wrap-up: Lower Merion aces Springfield, Harriton

The Lower Merion High School girls’ volleyball team defeated Springfield, 3-1, Wednesday, posting scores of 25-15, 15-25, 28-26, 25-20.  Sophomore Mika Zapf provided huge service runs throughout the match finishing with seven aces and 23 digs. Junior Adi Segal also paced the defense with 27 digs. Junior Erica Salutric and Senior Artie Felder combined for 24 kills.

The Aces lost to Mount St. Joseph’s, 3-0, Sept. 23, posting scores of 18-25, 20-25, and 19-25. Adi Segal had a stellar game with 32 digs. Maya Toib displayed good defense with 11 digs, while Marie Hamilton contributed six kills and two blocks.

The Aces defeated Harriton, 3-0, Sept. 21, posting scores of 25-12, 25-12, 25-15, behind big service runs from sophomore Mika Zapf, who posted five aces. Junior Adi Segal also contributed 10 digs.

In other Main Line high school girls’ volleyball action:

Academy of Notre Dame (7-2, 2-0) defeated Germantown Academy, 3-0, Sept. 23, posting scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-20. The Irish were led by Allison Hendrick (10 kills), Riley Shaak (seven killls, five blocks), Elise Butler (16 digs, seven kills) and Emma Butler (26 assists).

The Irish defeated Marple Newtown, 3-0, Sept. 22, posting scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-22. The Irish were led by Maddie Donaphon (15 digs), Elise Butler (nine kills, 11 digs) and Allison Hendrick (six kills, five aces).

Baldwin School lost to Germantown Academy, 3-0, Tuesday, posting scores of 20-25, 11-25, 17-25. Leading the Polar Bears were Caroline Kiser (seven kills, six digs), Haley Tavares (five kills, four blocks), Gabby Alston (four kills), Evie Wasson (14 digs) and Cartier Thomas (12 assists).

 

Radnor defeated Springfield, 3-1, Monday, posting scores of 25-22, 25-10, 20-25 25-14. The Red Raiders (7-5, 5-2) got strong defensive play from sophomore Sammy Scannapieco (nine digs and two kills), junior Yana Flores (eight digs) and sophomore Erica DiCarlo (eight digs). Offensively the team was led by senior Brianna Ellis (13 kills, five assists, two service aces, three digs, one block). Other contributors were sophomore Izzy Criscuolo (nine kills, two aces, two digs, one block), junior Carleigh Goldstein (five service aces, 11 assists, four kills, three digs, one block), sophomore Grayce Henderson (five service aces, three kills, two digs), junior Becca Goldberg (three kills, two blocks, one dig) and senior Ava Cunningham (one kill, two blocks).

The Red Raiders lost to Agnes Irwin, 3-2, Sept. 22, posting scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 9-15. Sophomore Erica DiCarlo stepped into the setter position to deliver 13 assists, five aces and seven digs.  Sophomore Sammy Scannapieco contributed to the defense with 14 digs, junior Yana Flores added eight digs and junior Claire Dustin had six digs.

Other strong play included junior Carleigh Goldstein (15 kills, seven assists, six digs, three service aces, two blocks);  junior Becca Goldberg (nine kills, two blocks); sophomore Izzy Criscuolo (five kills, four aces, four digs, two blocks); senior Ava Cunningham (four kills, one block); sophomore Grayce Henderson (three kills, three digs); and senior Paige Kidd (one kill, two digs, one block).

Sacred Heart defeated Academy Park, 3-0, Monday, posting scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-23. For the Lions, leaders were Hannah Martinson (four aces, 26 assists), Juliana Michniak (eight kills, five aces, eight digs) and Jaycee Webster (nine kills).
