Kevin Smith has enjoyed a fine freshman season on the Strath Haven boys golf team. Tuesday afternoon at Spring Haven Country Club, he had his best day yet.
Smith shot a season-low 36 on the par-35 layout to lead the Panthers to a 205-212 triumph over Harriton in Central League action.
Chris Diriendi also had a season-best round for the Panthers with a 39, including two birdies, and Lauren Butscher chipped in with a 41.
Lower Merion 206, Ridley 235 >> Tommy Loftus carded a 43 and Marc Pecko shot a 45, but the Green Raiders (4-6) couldn’t keep pace with Will Horn (39) and the Aces (3-3) at par-35 Springfield Country Club.
In Catholic League play:
Cardinal O’Hara 275, Lansdale Catholic 295 >> Greg Manning shot a 41 at par-36 Old York Road Country Club as the Lions (9-2, 8-2) notched their sixth straight win. Joseph Taggart and Nicky Scarpone each contributed a 44, while Kevin Lutz added a 45.
Bonner & Prendergast 235, Archbishop Wood 258, St. Hubert 366 >> The Friars’ Joe Dougherty and Dylan Williams had the second-lowest round among the three teams at par-33 Bala Golf Club. Dougherty and Williams paced the unbeaten Friars (6-0, 5-0) with rounds of 37. Corey McGrenera had a 38, Luke Nolan added a 40 and Rob Dougherty chipped in with a 41.
In the Ches-Mont League:
Rustin 222, Sun Valley 290 >> Kevin Bailey led the way with a 45 as the Vanguards (2-6, 0-5) fell at par-36 Rock Manor.
