Mercury-Area girls volleyball roundup: Methacton sweeps Christopher Dock

Methacton 3, Christopher Dock 0 >> The Warriors used sophomore Carli Ginther’s six kill, six assist showing in their non-league win over the Pioneers.

Nicole Cooper backed Ginther with six digs and a seven-point service run while Rainah Dunham had four kills an ace and 10 service points. Methacton won by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-21 with Ashley Newman scattering 13 service points. Emma Eglinton added 12 assists while Maggie Welsh posted four kills and three blocks.

Owen J. Roberts 3, Agnes Irwin 2 >> The Wildcats roared back after being games two games to take a non-conference win over the Owls.

Mikayla Johnson had 10 kills and three digs while Michelle Frank had four kills, three blocks, six digs and an ace. Agnes won the first two games 25-21, 25-21. OJR came back with a 25-21 win followed by a 25-20 decision then closed it out 15-8. Mikayla McLeod posted five aces, four kills and eight digs.

Kennett 3, Phoenixville 2 >> The Phantoms pulled hung tight, but weren’t able to overcome the Eagles in a non-conference meet.

Romina Broglia led Phoenixville with 12 kills and 15 digs while Keara Hennessey had eight aces and five blocks. Phoenixville won the first set 25-17, but lost the following two by scores of 25-16 and 25-21. The Phantoms pulled even with a 25-18 win but then lost 15-11 in the final game. Alex Poloway had six aces, seven kills and 11 digs while Tessa Lochetto posted 29 digs.
