It’s a rare sight for a high school golf team to post six scores in the 30s and still lose, but that’s what happened Wednesday.
Haverford School defeated Radnor, 183-184, in its match at Gulph Mills. The Raiders were led by Michael Sydnes, who finished the par-35 nine two under. David Colleran (37), Conor Rinehart (37), Chris Austen (38), Jake Calamaro (39) and Daniel Bullock (39) all broke 40.
Thanks to Mac Costlin’s 34 and Peter Garno’s even-par, the Fords bettered Radnor by a single stroke.
Fun fact: Had the teams used six scorers instead of five, they would have tied at 223.
