Radnor track team earns medals at Delaware County Relays

The Radnor High School girls track and field team took home some medals from the Delaware County Relays at Haverford High School Saturday. The 4×1,600 meter relay of Aileen Manion, Julia Havertine, Caroline Ditrolio, and Olivia Cooper finished in second place. Havertine and Ditrolio teamed with Ellie Rosin and Grace Wakiyama for the third place medals in the distance medley relay. In the discus relay, Zoe Metzger and Maia Hall placed fifth with their combined throws.

Three days earlier, the Radnor girls defeated Springfield and lost to Strath Haven and Lower Merion in a quad meet. Olivia Cooper was the overall winner in the 800 meter clocking a strong 2:26.6. Caroline Ditrolio and Julia Havertine placed third and fourth in the 1,600 meter, both running personal best times. Ellie Rosin placed third in the 400 meter. Mab Rongione vaulted to a fourth place in the pole vault.

In other Main Line high school track action:

Episcopal Academy (boys) lost to Malvern Prep, 65-57, Wednesday. For EA, Jermaine Rhoden won the triple jump, the 400 meter run (53.0), and tied for first in the high jump. Jake Viscusi, Kevin Daniel, and Sam Stickley went 1-2-3 in pole vault. Freshman Jack Bush took second in the 400 meter race (54.0), third in long jump, and third in triple jump. The meet ended with a great finish for the Churchmen in the 4×400-meter relay – EA’s Jack Bush, Jake Jorgenson, Matt McDevitt, and Jermaine Rhoden ran 3:37.3 to first place in this event.

Malvern Prep defeated Episcopal Academy, 65-57, Wednesday. Malvern seniors Colin Wills and Brian Boyle were double winners on the day. Wills won the 1,600 meter run (4:33) and 800 meter race (2:03), while Boyle won the 100 meter run (11.5) and 200 meter race (23.3).
