Lower Merion boys’ tennis team finishes first at State College Invitational

The Lower Merion boys’ tennis team finished first at the State College Invitational April 2, earning 20 of a possible 21 points to finish ahead of Dallastown (12), State College (9) and Wyoming Seminary (1).
In the first round, Lower Merion won all of its matches. At first singles, Matt Chen defeated Eamon Gibbons (Wyoming Seminary) 6-0,6-4; at second singles, Thibault Vernier beat Adrian Sung (WS) 6-0,6-1; at third singles, Sean Attebery outscored Andrew Kim (WS) 6-0,6-0; at first doubles, Sessan Adebamgbe and Jared Robinson defeated Richard Hughes and Micheal Kim (WS) 6-1,6-2; at second doubles, Will Rieke and Lucas Kreuzer defeated Matt Bristol and Aleet Manari (WS) 6-0,6-3; at third doubles, Jordan Robinson and Simon Sheintoch defeated Jay Deng and Jack Craig 6-4,6-3; and at fourth doubles, Aseda Adebamgbe and Harrison Axelrod beat Sebastian May/Nick Istvanted (Dallastown) 6-3,6-0.
In the final round, Lower Merion won all but the first singles match. At first singles, Holden Koons (Dallastown) defeated Matt Chen 6-4,3-6, 1-0 (match tiebreak); at second singles, Thibault Vernier beat Nick Vanden (State College) 6-4,7-6(4); at third singles, Sean Attebery beat Fernando delCastillo (SC) 6-0,6-3; at first doubles, Sessan Adebamgbe and Jared Robinson defeated Nate Swartz and Tyler Lilly (D) 6-2,6-1; at second doubles, Lucas Kreuzer and Will Rieke beat Jon Burns and Sachin Venkateshl (D) 6-3,6-1; at third doubles, Jordan Robinson and Simon Sheintoch outscored Logan Maddox and Tamer El-Maghrabid 6-3,6-1; and at fourth doubles, Aseda Adebamgbe and Harrison Axelrod defeated Garrett Schoonmaker and Sankar Ramesh 6-4,7-5.
