DLN Girls Hockey All-Area: The 2015-16 DLN All-Area Team

FIRST TEAM
Forwards
Kaelen Speck, So., Unionville: It was a highlight year for Speck in her first season with Unionville. She finished fifth overall among Girls Varsity forwards in the ICSHL with 46 points in 15 games and was second on her team in the same category. Speck even had a hat trick in her first game this year against West Chester East and finished the season with 27 goals and 19 assists.

Michaela Caldwell, Sr., Conestoga: Caldwell has always been a lethal, goal-scoring machine on Conestoga and her senior year proved no different. She put the puck in the net 34 times in just 15 games this season, with her highest being seven goals in just a single game. She tacked on five assists for a total of 39 points, putting her ninth overall among the Girls Varsity forwards in the league.

Jess Ciarrocchi, Fr., West Chester Rustin: It was a tough first season in existence for Rustin’s girls team, but Ciarrocchi made the best of it with an astounding 45 goals in 14 games, the most from any Girls Varsity player this year. In six of those 14 games, Ciarrocchi accounted for all of her team’s goals and was had all but one of her team’s goals in three others contests — and she’s only a freshman.

Defensemen
Mikaila Rubin, So., Bishop Shanahan: Rubin upped her previous totals from the Championship run when she was a freshman. She almost doubled her goal output, finishing with 21 goals. Her eight assists gave her a total of 29 points, nine more than 2014-15.

Anne Cleary, So. West Chester East: There was no sophomore slump for Cleary this year as she increased her point totals from seven to 19 in the span of a season. Her 11 goals were fifth among Girls Varsity defensemen and her 19 points also put her at fifth. All signs point to her having an even better year as a junior.

Goaltender
Danielle Latare, Sr., West Chester East: It’s hard to believe it’s only Latare’s second season ever wearing hockey skates and being on the ice, but the senior posted four shutouts this year, tied for first among all Girls Varsity goalies. Though she may not have the best goals-against average (3.56) among her peers, she has also seen more shots than many of the others and she finished with a 10-4-2 record.
