Anthony Starzi scores twice as Garnet Valley moves on

Things weren’t quite going Garnet Valley’s way in the opening round of the ICSHL Central playoffs Monday night.
Conestoga had a one-goal lead heading into the third period and appeared to be destined for the semifinals. Then Anthony Starzi came to life to keep Garnet Valley’s season alive.
Starzi scored twice in the third period as the Jaguars rallied for a 5-3 victory over the Pioneers at IceLine.
Garnet Valley meets Springfield at IceWorks in Aston Wednesday. Faceoff is 7 p.m.
Greg Schenk assisted on both of Starzi’s goals. He fed Starzi for a power-play goal 7:07 into the third period to tie it and set up a shorthanded goal with 2 minutes remaining to give the Jaguars their first lead. Gannon Stuart’s empty net goal with 20 seconds remaining sealed the victory.
Anthony Starzi also had an assist. Dominic Starzi added one goal and one assist. Schenk had three helpers for the Jags.
Ridley 10, Harriton 0 >> Colin McCann collected three goals and three assists to send the league-leadng Green Raiders into Wednesday’s semis at IceWorks against Haverford. That game will start at 8:45.
Michael Giampapa added two goals and two assists. Jake Cross and Thomas Plotts both had one goal and three assists for Ridley.
Haverford 8, Penncrest 2 >> The Fords tallied six times in the second period to blow the game open. Mitchell Estes led the way with one goal and three assists. Frankie McVeigh collected two goals and one assist, while Johnny Scarduzio, Henry DeVoe and Shane Moran added one goal and one assist each.
Jack Fletcher and Austin Mazzulo had the goals for Penncrest.
Springfield 7, Radnor 1 >> Goalie Calin Losacco made 21 saves to send the Cougars to the semifinals. Jose Cavaliere led the offense with three goals. Tyler Riddle (two goals, one assist), Kevin Brown (one goal, one assist) and Jim Schickling (one goal, one assist) also had multiple point nights for Springfield.
In the PCL Blue quarterfinals:
Cardnal O’Hara 5, Father Judge 1 >> Goalie Dan Dougherty stopped 20 of 21 shots to send the Lions into the semifinals against Roman Catholic Wednesday night at the Flyers Skate Zone (8:45). The only goal he allowed was a short-handed tally with 4:17 to play in the first period.
Nick Donato paced the offense with one goal and three assists. Corey Boornazian added two goals and Liam McCanney handed out three assists.
In the South Division semifinals:
Avon Grove 7, Interboro 1 >> The Red Devils scored the first five goals to bring Interboro’s season to a close. Kenny Keene scored on a power play for the Bucs. Mike Chamberlain had the assist on that goal.
