Haigh starts with pair of wins as Haverford School rolls

The reigning Daily Times boys swimmer of the year picked up right where he left off, with Matt Haigh claiming the 200 and 400 free and helping two Haverford School relays to wins in a 107-78 dismissal of Lawrenceville School in a nonleague meet.

Charlie Ryan won the 200 IM and 100 fly. Harrison White (100 breast), Brian Brennan (50 free) and David Mitchell (100 free) also won individual events. Alec Tyminski was tops in diving for the Fords.

In the Central League:

Haverford 110, Marple Newtown 73 >> Steve Szathmary set a Haverford program record by tallying 282.30 points to win diving. Leo Goldszal won the 50 and 100 free for Haveford.

Marple Newtown’s Dylan Keer turned in stellar times to win the 200 and 400 free for Marple Newtown.

Strath Haven 102, Springfield 78 >> The Panthers never looked back after a strong start, using consecutive wins by Sean Adams (200 free), Oliver Yancey (200 IM), Wesley Yancey (50 free) and Nick Riviello (diving) to build an comfortable lead.

Oliver Yancey added a win in the 100 breast, while Adams and Wesley Yancey chipped in to the winning 200 free relay.

Springfield got back-half wins form Chris Fleming in the 100 free and Brian Chung in the 500.

Ridley 98, Upper Darby 87 >> Donnie Taziole won the 100 and 200 free and anchored the Green Raiders’ victorious 200 and 400 free relays. Gene Gibbons won diving for Ridley with a sterling score of 219.80.

Michael Grizzle (50 free/100 fly) and Will Olmstead (200 IM/100 breast) picked up two wins apiece for Upper Darby.
