Exeter’s Perugini and Buczewski third at states

The Exeter Township High School boys’ tennis team ended a great 2014 season on a bright note when the Exeter doubles team of Nolan Perugini and Jonah Buczewski earned a third place medal at the PIAA State Doubles Tournament held at the Hershey Racquet Club.

The Exeter duo opened the tournament with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over the Strath Haven doubles team of Nick Ringle and Xandy Hammit.

That sent the pair to the quarterfinals where they defeated the team of Jonathan White and Jonathan Walmach of Pleasant Valley, 6-1, 6-1.

In the semifinals, Perugini and Buczewski met their match when they lost to Chris Grubbs and Michael Kann of Shady Side Academy, 6-4, 6-4.

That sent the Exeter duo to the third place match where they defeated the District 1 champions, Dan Tornea and Thomas Christian of Abington, 6-3, 6-0.
