Exeter falls to Lower Dauphin to end record-breaking season

The Exeter High School football season came to an end on Friday, Nov. 15, when the Eagles were defeated by Lower Dauphin, 28-0, in the quarterfinal round of the District 3-AAAA playoffs.

The Eagles were coming off their first playoff win in school history, as the program continues to improve each season under head coach Matt Bauer. Their season ended with an overall record of 9-3.

Lower Dauphin proved too much for the Eagles, as they gained 391 total yards, while Exeter managed just 184.

Lower Dauphin took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 20 yard touchdown pass. Then the hosts scored two more TDs in the second quarter, won on a 20 yard run and one from seven yards out, both by Troy Spencer, to give his team a 21-0 halftime lead.

A 67-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter pretty much put it out of reach for the Eagles. Manny Soto ran for 83 yards on 13 carries to lead the Exeter offense, while quarterback Chase Yocum was 7-for-13 for 49 yards. He also rushed for 31 yards.
